A Foodie Film Giveaway – Haute Cuisine

Image

As a foodie, I love all things food related. I love cooking, baking, eating. I also love watching foodie films. The story line can be about anything just as long as the main feature or character is food.

I was fortunate enough to attend the media preview of Haute Cuisine (French title: Les Saveurs du Palais) at Cinema Nova in Carlton. Haute Cusine is a delicious drama with a generous pinch of comedy, based on the extraordinary true story of President Francois Mitterand’s private cook, Daniele Delpeuch.

Hortense Laborie, a renowned chef from the Perigord, is astonished when the President of the Republic appoints her his personal cook, responsible for creating all his meals at the Elysee Palace. Despite jealous resentment from the other kitchen staff, Hortense quickly establishes herself, thanks to her indomitable spirit. The authenticity of her cooking soon seduces the President, but the corridors of power are littered with traps.

HC-4

It’s filmed on location at the Elysee Palace, in regional France and Antartica and full of mouth watering dishes and incredible foodie imagery.

  1. you cant go past …. Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. the movie evokes such much memories of my childhood. fun times.

  2. Oh wow, this sounds like a fun movie! One of my favourite foodie films is actually a French one called ‘Romantics Anonymous’, a quirky romance and adorable film with a woman who makes the most divine chocolate secretly as she’s afraid of the frame.

For something more main stream I also loved Katherine Zeta Jones in “No Reservations”!

  3. ‘the ramen girl’ – so sad watching this movie as it stars the late brittany murphy and reminds me of them delicious ramen when i was in japan. fingers crossed i win. :)

  4. My FAVOURITE foodie film of all time (which I’ve prolly watched at least 10 times by now) is called “God of Cookery” by this Chinese comedian actor called Stephen Chow (not sure if you’ve heard of him before but he’s hysterical)! Anyway, love that movie heaps cause it never fails to make me burst in laughter and also omg all the food it’s featured. One is the memorable “pissing meat ball” hahahaha where awesome broth would burst in your mouth as you bite into it. Had the pleasure of actually trying it in China and it was AMAZING. And also, there was this scene at the end where there was a cooking showdown and the winning dish was the most amazing plate of Chinese Roast Pork (Char Siu) on rice hahahah!! Too funnyyy

  5. Eat Drink Man Woman – A deliciously quirky film that continues to inspire me to cook for my Asian family every Friday night. Love food, love my family

  6. “Like water for Chocolate” A sad story of forbidden love, and how your emotions can influence the outcome of your cooking.
